Strange Encounter

So I kind of gave myself a day out since the weather was nice, and for more legitimate reasons: I stayed in bed all week suffering from a flu-like illness that caused me to cough endlessly, have a fever up to 101.6, be nauseated and take bulks of ibuprofen to kill the intense headache. I was feeling much better today and I didn't see any reason NOT to go down to the Austin Town Lake, one of my favorite places, to celebrate this beautiful weather and bask myself in the sunlight.

My original intention was to scout puppies and creepily watch them from afar until my boyfriend and I walked out of his car to encounter...

this!!!!!!
I freaked out for a moment then decided to bother them with my camera...

why hello there...

We asked them what it was for, and they said they were preparing for First Thursday down at South Congress.
I...did NOT know what that was until today. Learning something new everyday. :p

oh, Austinites. I love them.

now that's pretty LEGIT.

Nice meeting you guys! :)

Weather Change

February 6th. Saturday.

The ONE day out of the entire month of February so far that had a really nice weather.
So my friend Julie and I headed down to the Town Lake (or LADY BIRD LAKE if you want to be politically correct) for multiple photo shoots.

And yes. Town Lake is the best place to play with/take pictures of/observe/stare at/check out dogs and puppies in Austin. Don't quote me on that, it's strictly my personal opinion..

Great place for couples too. Butler Park!
I love the Austin skyline.

Kids were playing in the fountain nearby Butler Park.
I don't know how they do it, it was still pretty cold..

random indoor-soccer player we bumped into when we were leaving Butler Park.
We pleaded for him to model for some shots...nice guy.

Pedestrian Bridge. I love how the lines work in this picture.

and of course, street musicians. Love them.

a dad blowing bubbles for his baby son. Beautiful.

JP's Java

A nice coffee date with my cameras.

Weird thing is, I've been falling in love with my FM10 (which I never used the past year since I bought it) as I'm forced to use it for my B&W photography class.

Something different about films.

Dark room's fun too.
Even though I smell like chemicals after spending all my life in there every week.

KYNC Youth Retreat 12/20-22

Going to the youth retreat was absolutely a spontaneous decision.

So there I was, at Bonham Park - an hour north of Plano, a run-down "camping site" that actually scared me at first. Cabins had the most primitive heating system (which ultimately led us to turn them off every night), bathrooms were in a separate building from the cabins, and the "sanctuary" was not only small but directly connected to the kitchen - major distraction.

Food = everywhere. Koreans.

First night ended with skits and performances that got kids all hyped up.
My kids were the worst. Hehe.

2nd day - early morning, some kids were making fire...they were proud to tell me that they were in boyscout...

worship services.
Unfortunately, I took a long nap in the afternoon on the second day so didn't get much pictures of kids playing sports or whatnot.

Campfire. Sweet potatoes, ramen noodles, no smores...but the fire was awesome!

they got scared. pahaha.

Last day. scavenger hunt. I regret taking off with the kids into the woods. Most teachers just stayed.... SIGH.

It was fun for the first 5 minutes. After that, pain and exhaustion took over any positive feelings I had as we ran and walked through the nature trying to find the clues.

And then, we got lost.

girls from my group. They still wanted to take pictures anyway.

trying to find our way back........

when we finally got out of the woods, we realized that we ended up on the wrong side of the lake.
DEVASTATION. haha :(

Eugene Baek band. We're about to walk all the way back to the camp site...

It was more fun than I expected.
Definitely memorable...sleepless nights in cold, falling down and getting a huge bruise on my thigh, getting beat up by little boys, etc -__-

12/13, San Antonio.

finals? over.
stress? gone.
parties? overrated.

so we decided to take a trip down to san antonio, texas :)

the riverwalk.

dinner @ an italian restaurant, with some touches of jazz here and there.

and the pasta was freaking amazing. I don't think I've stuffed myself this much in awhile...

And then we were ostentatious tourists, holding a map in front of our noses to find our way back!

then we stumbled into this ice cream/gelato/coffee place.
the super-friendly owner left a huge impression on us. And made our night even better.

Gondola thing?

i love making pretty memories <3.
thanks oppa :)
